The fact that this cheese has a long shelf life is a peculiar feature which has contributed to building its fame over time, for several centuries.
HOW TO PRESERVE PARMIGIANO REGGIANO PREPACKED PARMA PARMESAN
Our Parmigiano Reggiano is packed and dispatched to our customers very quickly after the moment in which we receive the customer’s order. Upon receipt of the product, we recommend to keep the product refrigerated in order to preserve all its aromatic and organoleptical features. Vacuumpacked Parmigiano Reggiano needs to be preserved at a temperature between 4 and 8°C. It is important to make sure that the packaging is sealed and intact and that no oxygen was able to enter into the pack.
HOW TO PRESERVE PARMIGIANO REGGIANO PARMA PARMESAN, ONCE IT IS REMOVED FROM ITS PACKAGING
When you remove our vacuum packaging, the Parmigiano Reggiano is to be preserved in the fridge, at a temperature ranging from 4 to 8°C. The organoleptical features of the Parmigiano Reggiano are preserved if you keep it:
at an optimum moisture level (in a ventilated fridge, the cheese tends to dry out)
at a certain distance from other food (the greasy part of the cheese tends to absorbe the other odours that are present in the fridge)
We strongly suggest you to use a glass or plastic box. Another practical solution consist in wrapping the Parmigiano Reggiano in the Parma Parmesan cling film or in an obviously dry and very clean linen or cotton towel. If you stick to the above mentioned recommendations, you will be able to preserve the Parmigiano Reggiano for a long time, and we always need to remember to periodically check that the suggested circumstances are still in place. We recommend you to not freeze the cheese.
DURATION OF THE PRESERVATION AT REFRIGERATED TEMPERATURE
